Foothill Alumnus Gives Back Through A Bequest Intention

Short "Amazing things can happen from being at Foothill," said alumnus Bill Yee, who credits Foothill College with giving him the opportunity for a successful career in the technology sector and an early retirement. Bill, the son of Chinese immigrants, grew up in East Palo Alto, and was the first in his family to attend college. Bill worked five days a week while attending Foothill because his family could not afford to put him through school.

For Voyager Craft Coffee, everything starts with community. Voyager was founded in 2016 by Sameer Shah, a De Anza College alumnus, and his wife Lauren Burns. It began with the hope of bringing a passion for travel and coffee to Santa Clara County.

To understand how much Danielle Padron loves microbiology, you have to know that in order to study it she commuted to De Anza College from Modesto via public transit, a trip that on some days took more than 4 hours. "I'm glad I did because the instructors are amazing," she said.
