Students create adaptive devices for those with disabilities

This year, Foothill College launched a series of new courses aimed at students interested in learning about the biomedical industry, a booming piece of the Silicon Valley tech sector. The classes are part of the Foothill Science Learning Institute (SLI), an initiative that uses an innovative education model for the successful teaching and learning of science, technology, engineering and mathematics at all levels. A hands-on approach encourages students to explore the process of science, not just the solution.

Foothill Alumnus begins entrepreneurial career in Silicon Valley

Nimit Tank grew up in Cupertino, surrounded by entrepreneurship. Ever since high school he's spent his free time engaged in activities that would enhance his ability to work with others and create something new. Now, with a degree in business from the University of Southern California, he's working for a technology company as a business consultant and pursuing his passion to make a difference by launching his own start-up. He credits Foothill College as essential to his success.

Former Student Trustee makes a career serving his community

De Anza College graduate Patrick Ahrens is passionate about public service. One of the first classes he took at De Anza was Political Science 1, an American government and politics taught by Professor Nicky Gonzalez Yuen. He says he was inspired not only by the class and Professor Yuen, but by De Anza itself.
