Former Major League baseball player Sandy Wihtol grew up in Cupertino and works as a real estate agent in Los Altos. He’s always been active in the community, most notably spending 16 seasons coaching the Los Altos High School baseball team.

You might be surprised when Emily Lowdermilk looks up from underneath the hood of your car. In this male-dominated industry, Emily is not your stereotypical auto technician. However, she is enrolled in De Anza’s highly successful Automotive Technology program and wouldn’t dream of being anywhere else.
In fall 2012, a political science assignment rapidly grew into a campus-wide discussion. Students of the Poly Sci class in question were challenged to apply citizen advocacy and organizing skills towards solving an environmental problem. The result was a campaign geared toward green living and divesting from companies with fossil fuel holdings. Organized by a handful of students, the resulting campaign gathered support across the campus and won endorsements from student governments at both Foothill College and De Anza College.
